We are developing products and services and carrying out social activities that encourage appropriate nutritional intake and support people in getting the nutrients they need in line with their dietary habits and changes in nutritional condition (insufficient or excess nutrients).
Initiative report
Addressing nutritional needs through products
Offerings that provide the essential nutrients needed for health
Solving health issues originating from food, such as physical or mental health problems caused by a lack of nutrients, requires an improvement in the nutritional balance provided by daily diets.
We are working to solve nutritional issues by proposing supplements that support the effective intake of nutrients that are not being sufficiently provided by food. We also supply food products such as Hatsuga Genmai rice and kale juice from a desire to make everyday meals even healthier.
Base POWER
Addressing sugar and fat content in food
We research, develop and sell products designed to address the high sugar and fat content common in modern diets. The Calolimit series is a functional food range focusing on postprandial blood glucose and postprandial triglyceride levels.
Addressing nutritional needs through social activities
FANCL SDGs course -- Nutrition course
Since 2021, we have been carrying out FANCL SDGs Seminars. These are held in elementary, junior high, and high schools in Kanagawa Prefecture and surrounding regions to teach children about the SDGs.
The course on nutrition explores the themes of food loss and nutritional problems, with lectures on food differentials between Japan and other places in the world and on nutritional issues faced by young people in Japan. It communicates the importance of the essential nutrients required by younger generations.
Food education through Kodomo Shokudo
FANCL conducts "Food Education Workshops" that utilize Hatsuga Genmai and Aojiru (kale juice) to help participants acquire "knowledge about food and nutrition" and "the ability to choose a balanced diet." Held at children's cafeterias—which also serve as venues for community interaction and food education—these workshops aim to contribute to building health awarness for the future among children and the local community members who support them.
Launched in 2022 at a children's cafeteria in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, as a "Kanagawa SDGs Partner," this initiative expanded in 2023 to include food education workshops as an "Okinawa SDGs Partner" in Okinawa Prefecture, and these sessions continue to be held regularly.
In recent years, the scope of our activities has broadened through collaborations with local governments and companies that share our vision, including workshops that leverage each partner's strengths. We will continue to actively promote collaborative efforts aimed at solving societal challenges.
Children's food education using Hatsuga Genmai rice and Kale juice
Kirara Hoikuen employs multiple dieticians to actively provide food education at its nursery schools across Japan, and it has been using FANCL's Hatsuga Genmai rice in the meals provided to children for over 20 years. Since 2022, we have been collaborating with the company to hold a contest for delicious menu ideas using Hatsuga Genmai rice and kale juice that children and their parents can enjoy together.
