Connections with local communities

FANCL Group's social contribution activities started from a meeting with the Houmon-no-Ie Social Welfare Corporation. Our relationship began with Houmon-no-Ie when FANCL founder Kenji Ikemori visited its facilities in 1987, and has continued ever since. We Can Achieve More for local communities. FANCL Group is involved in these and a range of other initiatives to help in the vitalization of local communities.

FANCL Kanagawa SDGs course -- Hope for the future

Since April 2021, we have been holding the FANCL Kanagawa SDG Seminar: Hope for the Future designed to tell the children of Kanagawa Prefecture about the importance of sustainable development goals (SDGs).
Through the seminar, together with elementary, middle school, and high school students, we will deepen the levels of understanding of both FANCL's SDGs and the challenges of SDGs that are closely connected to the children themselves. In recognition of these initiatives, we received an Encouragement Award at the 12th Career Education Awards of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. We also received the Judging Committee's Encouragement Award in the large corporation section at the 2022 Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award for Companies Promoting Experience-based Learning Activities for Youth.

Volunteer activities

This is an initiative that proposes a lifestyle where employees value both their work and life outside of work. FANCL provides information on volunteer activities for employees outside of their working hours, promoting opportunities for them to engage with their local community.

FANCL B&H has factories in Nagareyama City, Chiba Prefecture, in Mishima City, Shizuoka Prefecture, and in Hino City, Shiga Prefecture. Using our strict standards, we manufacture cosmetics and supplements with a strong focus on delivering safety and peace of mind to our customers.
As a way of supporting the communities in which our plants are located, FANCL products are being offered as gift items in return for donations via the "Furusato Nozei" Hometown Tax Program.

Our interactions with the Houmon-no-Ie Social Welfare Corporation

Ever since our founding, FANCL has been actively involved in initiatives to contribute to society. Our work in this area all began in 1987 with a meeting between Michie Hiura, the founder of the Houmon-no-Ie Social Welfare Corporation, and FANCL founder Kenji Ikemori. At their meeting, a comment made by Ms. Hiura made a lasting impression on Mr. Ikemori. "Roughly one person in a thousand is born with a disability. It's only natural for the other 999 to look after them."

Houmon-no-Ie is a social welfare corporation that opened Japan's first outpatient facility for people with severe or multiple physical and intellectual disabilities. Initially, Mr. Ikemori alone provided financial and personal support, but his activities gradually spread to FANCL employees. For over 30 years we have invited the outpatients, staff, and families of Houmon-no-Ie to the FANCL office buildings for lunch meetings to help deepen exchanges with our employees. These meetings have led to many volunteer initiatives by FANCL employees.
