It is thought that our skin is increasingly at risk from both external factors such as UV rays, dryness, pollen, and air pollution, and internal factors such as lack of sleep, stress, and disruptions to lifestyle patterns.
Since our founding, we have been raising our research and technological capabilities with an emphasis on Mutenka, and we are developing products and services and carrying out social contribution activities with a desire to solve a wide range of skin concerns.

Mutenka Skin Care
Back in 1980, when skin damage from cosmetics use was a widespread problem, FANCL's Mutenka cosmetics were born based on our founder's desire to help the person he loved by "saving my wife from skin troubles caused by cosmetics."
Mutenka cosmetics are made up of the constituents needed to maintain healthy, beautiful skin and do not contain anything that might cause damage, including preservatives, synthetic perfumes, synthetic dyes, petroleum-based surfactants, or ultraviolet stabilizers.
Since then, we have pursued our goal of maintaining the beauty of bare skin by carrying out ongoing, cutting-edge research into ways of enabling skin to protect itself from damage caused by external factors such as UV rays, air pollution, and pollen, as well as from lack of sleep and disruptions to lifestyle habits and hormone balances.
Going forward, we will work to address the skin concerns of people of all ages with the aim of developing skincare that keeps the skin of every individual in good condition and free from damage.

Addressing increasingly common skin concerns through social activities
Development of kids' skin care products, reflecting the voices of Toin Gakuen Elementary School children
It is thought that the barrier function of children's skin is weaker than that of adult skin, meaning that it can be easily damaged by external factors such as UV rays, pollen, and blue light. Also, elementary school students have skin that is highly affected by lifestyle habits, diet, physical growth, and changes in hormone balances, and they are very sensitive to when their skin is not in good condition. In particular, they can secrete a lot of sebum.
We recognize the need to ensure children and their guardians have a correct understanding of their skin condition and to raise awareness of skincare. Therefore, we hold courses for 5th grade students at Toin Gakuen Elementary School where we think about skincare for children together with students.
In the fiscal year ended March 2024, we held the course four times for a total of 97 students.
Through the course, children learned about environmental issues, diversity, and manufacturing while actively sharing information about their activities and working together toward the goal of promoting healthy skin.
After about a year of lectures, their voices were incorporated into the development of skin care products featuring a "kid-friendly design," including a light blue color suitable for both boys and girls and a pump-type container that even children with limited strength can use by themselves.

Fancl SDGs Course (Kids Skincare Course)
In December 2024, we began skin care courses for elementary school students utilizing the Clear Up Series of kids' skincare products, which were developed based on the voices of children at Toin Gakuen Elementary School.
Students learn about how the skin functions, the specific characteristics of children's skin, and appropriate skin care, and also receive hands-on skin care training.
Participating children commented, "I learned for the first time that the environment and ultraviolet rays affect the skin. I also learned the importance of skin care in the class, so I will continue to take care of my skin." "It was the first time for me to wash my face with foam, but it felt good."

In January 2025, FANCL held a skin care lecture for parents and children at Renaissance Inc., which operates sports clubs and fitness studios, and a skin care lecture for elementary school students at Asuha Corporation, which operates schoolchildren's and children's centers.
FANCL will continue to conduct educational activities for children and their guardians on proper skincare to nurture healthy skin.
